National Recycling Coalition’s
27th Annual Congress & Exposition
September 21-24, Pittsburgh, PA
* Call for papers is now closed. It will reopen in the fall for next year's Congress*
NRC’s Annual Congress & Expo is the nation’s premier recycling conference and is the best place to exchange new ideas about recycling, waste prevention, and composting. The Congress & Expo offers the most comprehensive, informative, and educational program of any recycling conference across the country and is considered by many recycling professionals to be the “must-attend” event of the year.
Would you like to:
• Present as part of a concurrent educational session?
• Help organize and/or moderate a concurrent educational session?
• Host a table during the Table Topics Networking Lunch?
• Provide a table-top display at the Recycling Education Networking Breakfast?
If so, please review the background information provided here and then complete the Program Suggestion Form.
NRC’s Decisionmaking Process
In late February, NRC will review and evaluate all of the ideas and proposals that have been submitted and start crafting a draft program. We will contact you about the status of your proposal in the spring.
Congress & Expo Registration Fees
Speakers are expected to pay registration fees if they attend the full Congress & Expo. A speaker discount of $100 will be offered if you attend the full Congress & Expo, or you can attend only the day you present for free. All related travel/hotel costs will be at the speaker’s expense. No special discounts are provided to participants in the Recycling Education Networking Breakfast or the Table Topics Networking Lunch.
Concurrent Educational Sessions
The Congress & Expo Program includes 35-40 concurrent educational sessions spread over three days. Most sessions are approximately 90 minutes. Some are designed in the standard format, with three speakers followed by a question and answer period, while others are more discussion-oriented with more audience interaction and no formal presentations.

Hosting a Table at the Recycling Education Networking Breakfast or Table Topics Networking Lunch
The Recycling Education Networking Breakfast is an excellent opportunity for you to learn from and to share the best public education strategies in recycling and waste reduction today. This breakfast showcases innovative education programs from around the country by using table-top displays and informal networking to demonstrate a broad range of approaches to educating students and adults. Only public or non-profit organizations are eligible to host a table at the breakfast. No vendors or private companies please.
At the Table Topics Networking Lunch, table hosts facilitate discussions on the topic assigned to that table. Attendees will have a list of about 40 table topics and will eat lunch at the table they are most interested in. Hosts simply guide the discussion; they do not make presentations. This opportunity is open to all sectors, however sales pitches and very narrowly defined topics will not be selected.
