Congress Updates – NRC will be sending out
an updated conference program soon and is working on all the
confusion over changes in registration, timing, etc.
A. Workshop: According
to a note from Krista we are a go with the CURC Pre-Congress
workshop. All speakers are committed. It will be at the same time, 9-12, on
Sunday, January 13. We believe the Natural Step seminar is still
on as well. Krista please confirm.
B. SC
attendance: Pam, Pat, Pete, Roger, Keefe, Krista and Erica
will be in attendance. Julie is still a maybe. If you
are not listed here but do plan to attend, please let Julie
know.
C. Planning
meeting/agenda:
1. Steering committee meeting set for 9 a.m. to
1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, and 5-7ish, Sunday, Jan. 13, following
the Natural Step Seminar. If you cannot make these times, notify
Pete. Pete is working on our meeting agenda, and we will discuss/finalize
it on the December call.
2.
All CURC member meeting will be Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 4 – 6 p.m.
D. Exhibit: Keefe
is working on the display, which will feature 3 panels
with information on how CURC can help a beginning, middle, and mature
recycling programs. The
display will incorporate highlights of member campus programs.
E. Member
Feedback Forum: Sunday, during
the break from 12-1, we’ll invite CURC members to stick around to give us feedback
on CURC and order pizza for lunch. Pam and Pat
will handle ordering pizza.
F. Informal
get-togethers: Karyn Kaplan was looking
into planning something for Saturday. Karyn please
confirm the status.
From
the Midwest, Victoria Silva is interested
and may be attending the Seattle
congress. Ed Newman has expressed interest for the “member-at
-large” spot. Pat will send out a reminder that people have
till Nov. 30 to throw their hat into the ring. When this
process is finalized, we’ll send a notice to RECYC-L to announce
the new members. Will try to incorporate
this into a notice about the Sunday lunch
in Seattle
and possibly other conference
announcements.
A. Membership – Pete
will get Keefe a data dump from NRC to update CURC member list.
B. Conferences – see
above
C. Outreach/Standards – Working
on incorporating the “campus refuse profile” into the new web site. Would
like to encourage people to fill out the profile form whether it’s
for the first time or to update information. Rob
will send out a note to RECYC-L asking people
to fill out the profile.
D. Web – Nothing
new to report.
Will
Feretti’s contract ended and was not renewed. Kate Krebs is serving
as Acting Director and NRC has initiated a search to fill the position. There
are some fiscal challenges ahead for NRC related to the need to postpone
the conference. The conference is NRCs
main revenue source and that revenue
will come
in much later than usual and likely be
lower due
to attendance numbers.
CURC
Regional Conferences have been tabled for now. For the future we
may explore partnering with other regional or
state events and will definitely need to find
a way
to do them at a financial gain as opposed to loss.
