Carolyn Noack

Welcome
to the two "new" steers who are on the call today, Laura
and Carolyn! Julie will post the election results to the CURC distribution
list.
2. Overview/Status
of Committee Projects
a. Workshops
Austin - Krista is chairing the pre-congress workshop committee.
Considering a half-day workshop with roundtables in the morning
and an afternoon session
with a tour and/or a separate workshop (maybe on move-outs, maybe something
similar to The Natural Step in Seattle). There would be separate registration
for both. Topic ideas: session/focus group/something with vendors who
supply goods we use; preventative maintenance; specifying/selecting
equipment; web
or other graphic design; loading dock or recycling and trash station
specs. Krista will be soliciting ideas for workshop topics
- if you have ideas on
above-mentioned subjects or others, including speaker suggestions,
please let her know.
Karyn Kaplan
is again working on the NRC committee for congress sessions for the
college and university track.
State -
AZ is doing an Institutional Track that includes not only colleges
and universities but also hotels, resorts and large corporations with
campus-like settings. The two groups can help and learn from each other.
AZ is working with neighboring states to get them to include similar
ideas in their state conference. CA state conference is doing a college/university
track and most likely a half-day round table workshop. CA would like
to partner with CURC if feasible. CURC needs to define what its role
can be in partnering with ROs and other groups for alternative conferences
and educational programming. RO conferences are a good opportunity
to reach people who can't get to a national conference. We need some
NRC input as far as relationships with ROs and their conference planning.
If NRC has a booth at an RO conference, can we tack onto that? Etc.
Krista is going to be the official NRC liaison to CURC.
b. Outreach
Web - At this time, there is no password-protect function on the
web site. It will remain this way for the foreseeable future.
All links have been fixed.
Standards
-
Publications
- Karyn is interested in enhancing the web site to include the recycling "how-to" guide
instead of doing it as a publication. If Karyn and Christine draft
the content for the how-to guide as discussed, it can be put on the
web.
Krista,
as the NRC liaison will contact NRC re: CURC should take advantage
of the NRC Connection newsletter. It's a good, existing way, to reach
members.
c. Membership
Julie will remind members about web access and posting of minutes.
3. Other
Next call scheduled for the first Wednesday of June, 6/5, at noon
EST.
