1] Welcome new members

2] Review of Work plan

New steers should have received a packet that includes a copy of the CURC work plan.

Track Session Status

Karyn Kaplan is pulling together the sessions. This year NRC will not have a sustainability or educational track so trying to fill some of those gaps with our sessions. Also trying to bring in new speakers and new ideas. Most panelists and moderators are confirmed. Discussion of ideas for future workshops… Karyn is keeping notes on ideas for future years. If you have ideas for sessions, please send them to Karyn.

Other NRC Congress issues

Karyn will look into a location for a CURC social gathering for Saturday and possibly Tuesday nights. Also need to get NRC the schedule of CURC events for Austin. Pete is pulling this together. CURC steering committee meeting will be Saturday probably beginning at 1:00 p.m. As you schedule your travel, plan to get to Austin in time for this meeting. Annual member meeting will probably be Tuesday afternoon. Need to identify a person to be in charge of organizing the booth. Keefe has a contact, Amy Armbruster, who'd like to be involved so maybe she would be interested. Roger will contact Keefe about this and the location/content of our booth.

Workshop status

Krista is pulling together and has a draft of ideas that were sent to RECYC-L and the CURC member database for comments. Karyn has suggested to Krista to look into doing something with "Good Company" a sustainability consulting firm working with campuses. Seems like a good idea since The Natural Step workshop was such a hit at NRC in Seattle.

RO Conferences

Carolyn Noack & Pat Chase are interested in working with ROs to incorporate CURC-related information into annual conferences. Please e-mail Carolyn with the contacts and dates for your state recycling conferences.

ABCs of campus recycling and membership benefits packet

Christine von Kolnitz and Karyn are working on this and hope to have something to present at Austin. They hope to have both in a web-based format. They'd like to see some of the 'web money in the CURC budget used for development of this. Karyn has a web master who could do this if there is money available. Ed also knows someone who has the time and skills to do this if needed.

Membership status

Keefe did a lot of work on membership but we need to continue the momentum and dedication to this effort.

Outreach status

Overall web strategy and presence, benchmarking and standards, items Karyn and Christine are working to develop.

3] Selection of Officers and committee leaders

There is general consensus that some of these positions may be best divided up with steers taking the lead on specific tasks or projects.

Pete will send an e-mail to the steering committee with the rest of the positions and tasks involved.

**We will have a conference call on June 12 at noon eastern time to finalize the rest of the positions.**

*******NOTICE: Our July call will be on the 10th, noon eastern, as the first Wed. of the month is the day before a holiday. *******
