1. Follow up on Karyn and Christine's work

A. Content - Can't write one thing that covers all perspectives… So maybe we should address the issues covered from one angle (student vs. administration vs. ..) to get something done and in the future can work to add other angles. Would probably want to put it out with a disclaimer of sorts, 'this is one perspective…'. Could have separate introductions that are geared to students, physical plant, etc. and then make general content more generic, less 'group' specific. How do we accomplish this? Maybe we give Karyn and Christine (K & C) our comments/concerns about sections that are written from too narrow a perspective. Then either they agree to re-write or one of us takes on the task. The perspective isn't as narrow in some sections of the document. Part of our introduction to this could include a call for others to submit different ideas or information on various subjects covered. We should be careful to be fair and include as many options as we can and ask people to submit additional resources, vendors, etc. Some of the less-recycling or solid waste specific topics could be put in a separate section for those interested in the more expanded approach. Should consider this a set of resources, not a, or "the" textbook.

B. Format -- Want to convert it to a web-based document - who and how? Document needs to be developed as a web-based item. Need to figure out if we have the money to hire someone to do this. Find out from NRC how much money we have and then determine our priorities to see what we can afford. We would need to work with someone who knows the document and its results are proprietary and guided by what we want. Needs to be a very approachable, straightforward, simple, user-friendly format. We should specify to whomever the developer is that we want this coded in HTML, not some restrictive package page program; to give future contributors the most flexibility in adding/changing.

C. Would like all content sections of it to be printable/downloadable so people can use it as an official document, demonstrable of a CURC benefit, and for support of their own efforts with administrators at their school, etc.

D. We've talked about this for a long, long time and should move forward to work with what we have so we get somewhere with this. We should get feedback to K & C on content and format issues. Also need to ask Karyn for the contact information for the web person she knows so we can get an estimate for getting this done. The web person needs to have access to someone from CURC so they can work closely with us. What format does Karyn's person use? What does this person (or another) need to make this happen? Pete will contact Karyn to begin discussion about our concerns and moving forward with this project, including an estimate from a web-person.

2. Work Plan

Need to get more steers input on this. Julie, with Pete's help, will draft something to send out to everyone to make the work plan a separate task for everyone's input as the January deadline is fast approaching.

3. Annual pre-congress Workshop

Need to find someone to take on this task. Hopefully we can find someone local who is willing to help plan the workshop and is familiar with local options, tour potential, etc.

4. MAKE NOTE

The January call will be scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, as the first Wed. of the month is New Year's Day. If you're not on the call, it is quite possible you will end up responsible for a major CURC project.

5. ADDITION

We need to start RECRUITING NOW for new Steering Committee members… Think about colleagues who would be good and start talking to them. Elections take place in late February, and new member should take office on our April call.
