1] Elections/vote
counting
Three write-ins
have more than one vote. Need to contact them to see if they are willing
to serve. Dale will have to step down
from the steering committee so we will need one additional person.
Should contact all 6 of the write-ins who have one vote to see which
are willing to serve. Based on who's interested we can figure out
how to fill the extra void(s). Julie will call the 3 individuals who
got
more than one write-in vote to determine their interest. Once that
is determined we will contact those who received one vote.
We were
not able to mail out ballots to those who don't have e-mail this time
around. We did send a letter prior to the election process requesting
e-mail from those for whom we do not have it. There was no response
to that letter so at this time mail does not appear to be an efficient
way to reach or receive response from our members. Steers voted unanimously
not mail a ballot for this election.
2] Quick
response/support force
Ed hasn't
gotten to this letter yet. He is still willing to work on it and will
draft something as soon as he
can. When it's done, he'll send it around for comments. Will need
to have something that is ready to go whenever someone needs it because
when cuts come they happen quickly.
3] ABCs
Carolyn
and Julie will talk in May (after Carolyn's move-out before Julie's)
about comments and feedback to share with Karyn and Christine.
We also have the issue of how to orchestrate submittal of ideas and
additions to the document. Will discuss it more on the June call.
4] Budget/Work
plan update
Pete has
not gotten any definitive word on whether our work plan was approved
at the NRC board meeting. There was discussion
about our work plan by NRC but we do not know the final word on budget
or specific issues. Krista sent an e-mail with some feedback from
NRC but it left a lot of questions. Pete will get in touch with Krista
and or Kate to discuss this further and clarify things. Pete will
share
information via e-mail.
5] Baltimore
planning
Still have
not been able to contact any of the Baltimore area people about working
on the pre-congress workshop. Rob got some
interest from someone who works with Waste Wise, and is interested
in helping with our workshop if she's able to attend the conference.
Pete was contacted by someone from Inter-face Carpeting who's interested
in doing a workshop on carpet recycling. Pete's response was that
CURC would only be interested in generic information on the subject,
not
a Company-specific pitch. We'll contact them if it's something we're
interested in for Baltimore.
Attending
Baltimore -- Rob is going for sure, Pete believes he will be going.
Carolyn will not be there. Others are not certain at this point.
6] Committee
Reports
Dale has
not talked to Kurt lately about benchmarking but will soon and plans
to touch base with CA members again soon due to
their state reporting deadline. RO conference committee is working
with Northeast Resource Recovery Assoc. (NRRA).
7] Recycle
Mania contest in 9th week with three of four participants increasing
their recycling rates this year. One school appears to be having success
with waste reduction.
