Present: Sheela Backen, Julie Cahillane, Angie Fowler, Alana Levine,
Ed Newman, Carolyn Noack
Not Present: Michael Alexander (NRC), Pat Chase, Jack DeBell, Rob Gogan,
Pete Pasterz, Michael Youdelman
1] Elections process
A. Ballot sender/counter – Ed can help with this again. Sheela and Angie can
assist. Need more information on what’s involved with the whole process to
finalize this. Julie will ask Pat a list of what’s necessary in the process
so we can divvy up duties. Also need to create a timeline for our election
process.
B. Poll steers whose terms are up for interest in reelection:
Julie - No
Rob - Yes
Michael - ?
Pat - Yes
Carolyn – Yes but uncertain about future of her position.
Vacant seat
ALL STEERS SHOULD BEGIN THINKING ABOUT POTENTIAL CANDIDATES AND
ENCOURAGING THEM TO RUN.
2] Newsletter
update
First newsletter
is posted on the web site and notice has been sent to members. It will
also be included in NRC’s next
e-news. Pat can hopefully let us know what’s needed for and the deadline
of the next newsletter.
3] Rapid Response
Carolyn could use the letter ASAP. Julie will contact Jack for an
update on this to share with all the steers. Everyone should
have the letter and list
of best practices. Please review and provided comments, additions, etc.
to Jack.
4] San Fran Congress
A. CCRC/CURC discussions on SF pre-congress workshop discussions
B. CURC Track sessions again
HOLD these items for next call when Pat’s available to provide input.
5] Affiliations
A. Report from Pete on meeting with Lander Medlin -- HOLD for next
call when Pete is available.
B. Ed is still working on an association with the OH state group. Hoping
their conference next October will have a CURC track and/or regional collegiate
effort.
Other states are looking into this as well (NERC, CO, etc.). Slowly but surely
college/university specific information is being incorporated into planning
of annual conferences.
6] ABC's
A. NRC/Kivi to review and get back to us “ASAP.”
B. Completed Chapters are: Overview [Cha. 1], Involving Students,
Faculty and Staff [Cha. 5]; Construction and Demolition Recycling
[Cha. 14]; and Legislative
Effects [Cha. 17]. Steers need to review remaining chapters select which
ones they are able to review.
C. Concern about copyright statement on Christine's web page -- has anyone
spoken to Christine or Karyn recently on the status of the ABC's? Ed has
been in touch with Karyn and Christine who are concerned about lack of communication
and/or progress on finalizing and making the guide available. Pete will call
Karyn and Christine to inform them of what’s been happening, delays, etc. so
we can continue to work with them to make this project a reality.
7] Membership
Update
Angie has
a work-study student who can work on updating our member list. This
person is going to work with the NRC’s
affiliated states to identify their members who are CURC parties. They
are also identifying the non-affiliated states and attempting to get
their lists of college members. Angie still has not received a current
member list from NRC and will contact them again. Ed can help with list
work if Angie needs further assistance.
8] Next call will be March 15.
