Description: Residents and small businesses (5 employees or less) are invited to the first DPW Drop Off Day. Five vendors (Planet Aid, Got Books, Universal Shredding, North Shore Scrap Metal, and CRT Recycling) will be parked in various locations at the DPW ready to take the a variety of drop off items from clothing and textiles , to books, to paper shredding (first box free), to scrap metal, white goods, electronics and more. Drop off for most items is free.
EXPECT A LONG LINE as it is the first time we are offering this event. If you miss this one we will offer two more in 2008.

Description: New phone books have been delivered and Christmas catalogs will be arriving in the mail and not to forget all those magazines that you read through the summer. Marshfield elementary schools sponsor the phone book drive around November 15th. Last year’s phone books together weigh 5.95 tons from the elementary schools. The Town of Marshfield DPW gives the school that recycles the most phone books, catalogs and magazines an ice cream party.

Campaign kick-off will be held at MassDEP’s Springfield Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) to highlight this successful public-private partnership between the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 78 Western Mass communities, and private industry. Since it began operating in 1990, the MRF has processed over 1 billion pounds of recyclables and paid municipalities nearly $8 million in revenue.
