Since 1998, the National Recycling Coalition’s Recycling Works award has honored a company or organization that shows exceptional vision and leadership, is setting the highest standards, and is impacting meaningful change within the recycling industry.
This year the National Recycling Coalition will honor The Coca-Cola Company for its assertive and broad approach to environmental sustainability. Building a global packaging platform that incorporates the full environmental impacts of every package, Coca-Cola has staked a clear leadership position in its approach to sustainable packaging. Coca-Cola has used recycled content plastic in their bottles since introducing the first ever food grade plastic bottle made with recycled material in 1991. In 2007, the company set a goal to have 100 percent of the PET plastic bottles they place in the market recycled.
The NRC’s 10th Annual Recycling Works Award Ceremony and Gala takes place on February 12, 2008 at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel in Washington, D.C.
