College and University Recycling Council
The College and University Recycling Council (CURC) was formed in 1992 and became a technical council of the National Recycling Coalition in 1995. CURC is a network of campus-based recycling professionals who face similar challenges and opportunities in managing college and university programs. More information on CURC can be found here.
RecycleMania
RecycleMania is a friendly competition among university recycling programs in the United States. Over a 10-week period, schools compete to see which institution can collect the largest amount of recyclables from residence halls, on-campus apartments and dining halls. Schools report measurements on a weekly basis in pounds recycled per student living on campus. The RecycleMania event provides students with a fun, proactive activity in waste reduction. The university that recycles the most wins. A RecycleMania trophy is presented to the winner. CURC is proud to be a sponsor of RecycleMania, more details about the competition can be found here.
The main goal of this event is to increase student awareness of campus recycling. In the end, this event shows that all participating universities have made achievements in recycling and waste reduction!
