NRC Resources for Recyclers

As a public service, the National Recycling Coalition is providing the following resources to all website visitors, at no charge.

Recycling Economic Information. The NRC has completed a groundbreaking study of the nation’s recycling and reuse industry. We are providing the information and tools you need to understand the importance of the recycling and reuse industry to our economy and to apply this information to promote recycling efforts in your area.

Electronics Recycling. Through this initiative, NRC is promoting the recovery, reuse and recycling of obsolete electronic equipment and encouraging the design, manufacture and purchase of environmentally responsible electronic equipment. Our website includes information for businesses and consumers on managing e-waste; a database of e-waste recyclers; policy information at the state, federal, and international levels; model procurement specifications, and more.

Climate Change and Waste Prevention. NRC is promoting the integration of waste reduction activities into state and local Climate Change Action Plans (CCAPs) and goals by demonstrating the positive connection between reducing greenhouse gases and reducing waste. In this section, you can read transcripts from online discussions hosted by the NRC and find a list of peers working on these issues.

Waste Prevention Tools. NRC’s Source Reduction Forum has developed a number of resources to assist businesses, consumers, and local governments with implementation of waste prevention programs. This website also includes resources for measuring the effects of source reduction programs. (The terms “source reduction” and “waste prevention” are used interchangeably on this site.)

Recycling Works. NRC is providing relevant information and networking opportunities for municipal recycling coordinators, material recovery operators, material processors, trade association representatives, and others through its Recycling Works program. We also hope to demonstrate how a range of materials can be cost effectively recovered for recycling, while enhancing their quality and market value.

Financing for Recycling Businesses. The ability of small and start-up recycling businesses to obtain financing is a critical factor in expanding end use manufacturing capacity for recycled materials and products. To address this need, NRC developed a number of useful resources for the business, financial, investment, and market development communities. While the National Recycling Financing Initiative is no longer an active NRC project, this website contains many valuable resources produced during the project, much of which is still relevant today.

Professional Services Directory. NRC’s Professional Services Directory is the best place to find qualified consultants who specialize in waste prevention, reuse, recycling, composting and related fields.

Email Discussion Lists. NRC operates several email discussion lists, also known as listservs, on specific topics of interest to the professional recycling community.

Employment Opportunities. Review job listings or post one. (Scroll to the bottom of the linked page to post a job).
